Episode 254 – MotoGP in Austria 2020, where we had two very fortunate near-misses in horror crashes, Dovi quitting Ducati and a whole lot more!

MotoGP was dominated by a horror crash between Frankie Morbidelli and Johann Zarco, colliding up the hill at over 190mph, and their bikes narrowly missing Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi at the Turn 3 hairpin. Thankfully, everyone was okay. After the restart, a tyre-affected race led to Andrea Dovizioso taking his first win of the year – On the weekend he announced he was quitting the team. Because of course. We also had a hilarious scrap between Aleix Espargaro and Danilo Petrucci. Double finger salutes were expressed.

Moto2 also had a horrendous incident as Haifzh Syrahin crashed just past Turn 1 and had his bike ran into by another rider. And while luckily, everyone was okay, it was another frightening incident that made us all question the safety of the Red Bull Ring. Afterwards, Jorge Martin took his first Moto2 win ahead of new Championship leader Luca Marini, and Marcel Schrotter’s first Moto2 podium in a year.

We also talk Moto3 as Albert Arenas overcame the pain barrier to take a stunning final lap pack race to win, but carnage further back as long lap penalties led to a massive podium reshuffle as Celestino Vietti, Ai Ogura and Darryn Binder all took position drops for final corner track extensions. Crazy!
