If you’ve been reading the news, it’s not been the greatest of weeks. Forgive us if you don’t like it, but we wanted to dedicate the first few minutes of this Podcast to reflect on Donald Trump being re-elected as President of the United States, and what it may mean for us Motorsport fans. We hope it resonates with you. Remember, this will always be a safe space for everyone to enjoy their Motorsport. This is a show made by all walks of life, FOR all walks of life and we’re here for everyone. And we do mean everyone.
Afterwards, we review the 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix, one of the wildest race weekends of recent years. It consisted of no less than a Sprint Race that had a rather disruptive McLaren team orders swap, a qualifying session that was moved to Sunday morning due to it being rained off on Saturday night, that qualifying session having FIVE red flags and Alex Albon withdrawing from the weekend after wrecking a tub, and then one of the biggest comebacks in F1 history in the race.
In conditions that time replicated a monsoon, Max Verstappen went from 17th on the grid to win in dominant fashion, with Lando Norris slipping to 6th as McLaren struggled in the rain. With it, Max extends his Championship lead to 63 points, essentially ending the Championship fight right there and then. We try to break down all of the title action.
On top of that, Alpine had their first double podium finish since Korea 2013 and Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly’s bravery in wet conditions got them 2nd and 3rd, and 35 points on the weekend, lifting them to sixth in the WCC. Could it be a $30m payday for the French team?
All that and yet more stewarding mess, on the next Motorsport101!
